Limpet Art

I spotted this arrangement of limpet shells from the path above the beach at Lundin Links. The white shells glistening in the sun. Someone had taken the time and patience to collect all the shells and then arrange them. There were two more shell and pebble collections closeby. So cheers to the unknown artist or artists. The arrangements brightened up my day.

Gaddon Loch Views

Clouds reflected in the water at Gaddon Loch, which lies adjacent to Birnie Loch and both lochs form a nature reserve in North East Fife. The reserve was created from old quarry workings.
There are good views of the Lomond Hills from the far bank of Gaddon Loch.

Swans at the little island in Gaddon Loch.

Geese at Birnie Loch

Thousands of pink-footed geese over-winter in nearby Loch Leven but I think that from the orange colour of the bill these are probably greylag geese. Photographed at Birnie Loch yesterday they seemed unphased by the proximity of the car park and people walking on the grass quite close to them.

Snow on the Hills

Snow on the Pentland Hills across the Forth
Tug boat pulling a barge on the Forth with snow on the hills beyond.
While the snow quickly disappeared at lower levels, still a little snow on Largo Law.

Snow in April

A snow covered Largo Law can be seen behind Lundin Ladies clubhouse. Having had no snow at all during the winter, it snowed on and off for most of the morning but did not lie for long in Lundin Links.
A group of people can be seen on the Law on the right of the photo. (Click to enlarge)

Two Small Flowers

Coltsfoot (Tussilago farfara) growing near Ruddons Point. The flowers come out before the leaves.
The tiny white flowers of scurvy grass (Cochlearia sp.) also at Ruddons Point. It is found mostly in coastal areas as it has a high tolerance of salt.
