Sharing a Rock

Last week on one day there were two seals sharing this low level rock just off Lundin Links; the next day there were five. They were balancing on the rock, in typical banana shape pose. First time that I've seen them at this spot; more usually on the rocks opposite the first fairway of Lundin Golf Course, but these were on the rocks opposite the swings on the Massney Braes.

A Seal Pops Its Head Up

Just off the end of Lower Largo Pier a seal popped its head up before diving again and coming up a little further away. Often see seals on the rocks opposite Lundin Golf Course but haven't often seen them swimming around the pier.
Not a great picture as the seal was a little way off and the light was going but I think the characteristic shape of the head can be seen.

Seal on the Rocks

I think I've been spotted by this grey seal on a rock opposite Lundin Golf Course last weekend! Quite often see seals on these rocks. From the size and colour I think this is quite a young one.

Seal Close to Shore

This grey seal was basking on a rock very close to the shore opposite the golf course in Lundin Links. It seemed to be enjoying the attention of bystanders on the beach.

Grey Seals at Low Tide

At low tide in Lundin Links rocks become exposed and can often see seals quite close to the beach. Today there were seven altogether, each on a separate rock.

Puffins and Seals - Farne Islands

Puffins on the Water. (Click to enlarge photos)
Puffins and Seals are probably the favourite wildlife sightings on any trip to the Farne Islands.

There is also a black headed gull in the centre of the picture. The island is littered with puffin burrows.

Seals at Lundin Links

Seal balancing on rock, in typical banana shape pose.
Quiet calm weather and low tide seems the best time to see seals on the exposed rocks, just opposite the first tee of Lundin Golf Course. There were five seals alltogether this morning.

Seals in the Early Morning

On the beach opposite the Lundin Golf Course there are some rocks favoured by seals and they can often be seen there, if the tide and weather conditions are right. These two let me apprach so far, but as I tried to get closer they rolled off into the water. I walked away, but looked back after a litle while and they were back on the rocks. These are likely to be grey seals. There is a breeding colony on the Isle of May in the Forth.
