A Walk in the Snow

Snow in the small wooded area between the two paths in the Serpentine Walk. Snow and woods always reminds me of Robert Frost's lovely poem - one of my favourites.

The Largo burn in full spate at the junction of the two paths.
The snow on the path up to the main road was around a foot deep in places and we were glad that other people had been there before us and we were able to step into their footprints. The exit at the top was blocked by snow, that had been cleared from the road, but we managed to find a way up the side of the field and then down the bank onto the road.

Wild Weather and Rough Seas

No-one on the swings at the Massney Braes.  Two days of heavy snow showers had left around 10cms of  snow underfoot with some drifting in places.

Looking towards the West of Largo Bay, waves crashing on to the shore.
Down at Lower Largo Harbour, the sea was pounding the pier, which was already in a parlous state.

The sea was channeling behind the Crusoe Hotel and  coming onto the road, leaving behind stones and other debris.

First Snows of 2018

Looking across the fields from the Serpentine Walk.
Compared to some areas of the country, snow has been light here, just a thin covering, but still scenic.

First Snow of 2017

Thought that we had escaped the snow on Thursday, but Friday morning saw a light covering of snow.

Snow in Late April

Quite heavy snow overnight but by mid-morning most of it had melted from lower altitudes, leaving only Largo Law standing out with its white covering.

The snow melt left pools of water in the fields at the foot of Largo Law.

A Light Dusting of Snow

There was a light fall of snow overnight yesterday but by the afternoon most of it had disappeared, although  the top of Largo Law was still white.

The standing water (from the recent wet weather) in the fields beneath Largo Law has frozen.

Behind the trees a wintry looking Largo Law.

A Snow-Covered Footpath

There was a light fall of snow overnight but the sun came out and by midday most of the snow had melted. However, in the shade of the trees in the Serpentine Walk, snow still covered the footpath.
The snow has completely disappeared from Largo Law which can be glimpsed in the background.

With the promise of spring, snowdrops were beginning to appear at the side of the footpath.

First Winter Covering of Snow on Largo Law

The fields to the east of the Serpentine Walk were still green today but there was a light covering of snow on Largo Law.

Largo Law White Again

A snow covered Largo Law from the Serpentine Walk.
Although it's the first day of spring today woke up to a light covering of snow. By mid-morning it had disappeared in Lundin Links but up on Largo Law the snow cap remained.

Winter Returns

Largo Law from Lundin Ladies Golf Course.
After a few sunny spring-like days it seemed that winter was on its way out, but this morning woke up to a light covering of snow.
