Who's Looking At You?

Two calves in the field in front of the ruins of Largo House. I think they'd spotted us walking along the road and they obligingly posed for their photo.

Fungi - Serpentine Walk

Fungi, possibly honey fungus (Armillaria mellea) at the base of a very large beech tree in the Serpentine Walk.

A diseased part of the trunk of the same beech tree. The pinkish coloured growth is possibly a canker.

Large saucer sized fungi growing in the grass in the Serpentine Walk. Could possibly be Brown roll-rim (Paxillus involutus).

Activity in Largo Bay

Barges and tugs move towering platforms from Methil.

St John's Wort

The flowers of the shrub St John's Wort (hypericum) in the garden are buzzing with bees and hover wasps just now. The flowers are open and the pollen easily collected.

Sunny Day at Elie

A wind turbine has been erected at the Western end of Largo Bay

Surprise at the Garden Gate

It was nearly dusk last night and I was about to close the garden gate when I noticed this toad on the pavement. At least I think it's a toad and not a frog - warty dry skin and stubby body.
