A Walk Round the Village of Boot in Eskdale

Eskdale watermill.
The small village of Boot is a short walk from Dalegarth Station the terminus of  the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway. The most interesting building is the watermill, the presence of which was documented as far back as 1578.
The Whillan Beck provides the power for the mill as it cascades down from the slopes of Scafell.

The Whillan Beck tumbles over the rocks.

St Catherines Church. A church has been on the site since the 6th century The present church dates from the 14th century, with later alterations and additions. It was restored in 1881.

St Catherines Church and Graveyard
A beautiful day and the views to the fells were so clear.

Dalegarth Falls - a short distance from the station.
