Hadrian's Wall I - Vindolanda

Overlooking the excavations at Vindolanda.
On our recent trip to the North of England visited several sites  along the Hadrian's Wall. The weather was terrible so concentrated more on the indoor museums. Of all the sites Vindolanda is my favourite. I particularly like the setting of the museum in the Chesterholm Gardens.
Replica of a Roman milestone.
A memorial to all the Roman soldiers who served at Vindolanda.
Some replica Roman tablets with inscriptions.
Some Roman gravestones.
The Chineley burn which bisects the gardens was in full spate.
The Temple of the Nymphs - a reconstruction of a Roman Temple.

Inside the temple of the Nymphs.

Three tableaux representing Roman Life.
